History

Established in 1993 by a group of ITN project engineers with a combined experience of over 80 years of broadcast engineering.

We quickly established close working relationships with the main broadcast institutions; many of these are still our clients today.

The Broadcast industry has changed and so have we evolving into recruitment.

With clients wanting greater flexibility over resources and tighter control of costs. Inevitably this impacted on many technical and engineering functions within the broadcast industry and most significantly on one of the biggest and most costly resource of them all, personnel.

Our clients wanted the ability to flex up or down as requirements and circumstances dictated. EMS Technical Personnel Limited was established in 1998 to help our clients do exactly this without compromising quality or service delivery standards. We work in the same way with candidates guiding them and helping them to understand a different way of working which benefits them both client and candidate.

Because we were set up by broadcast specialists from within the industry to source and supply the very best technical and engineering personnel and with our previous history as a systems integrator and consultants to the broadcast sector, we have the ability to offer our client’s and candidates a unique, in depth and genuine understanding of their requirements.

We source and supply the best broadcast technical personnel in the industry for our clients. The majority of those contractors that we put forward to clients will have already worked for, or with EMS, or we will know of them through a previous industry association.

With this wealth of knowledge and in depth understanding of the industry, we are in a unique position to be able to readily identify candidates that meet our client’s specifications.

We don’t regard ourselves as just another recruitment business, and we don’t take the easy option and put forward just anyone, the reputation that we’ve built up over many years for reliability, quality and integrity would easily be lost if we did!

Specialist project teams

We can if required create bespoke Project teams that deliver to your deadlines, budget, and remit, time after time.  

For example a recent request was to provide ITV’s new Northern and Southern play out Centres with a full team, consisting of the overall Project Manager, Design and Project engineers, Commissioning Engineers, and installation teams.

The unique thing about this project was that all members of the team had previously worked together through EMS on other projects, so were able to hit the ground running.
